Yale Young Global Scholars (YYGS; http://globalscholars.yale.edu) is the premier summer academic enrichment and leadership development program of its kind for talented high school students from around the world. Enrolling approximately 2,500 high school students through a highly competitive application process, YYGS participants represent more than 100 countries and all 50 U.S. States. The program offers 12 sessions on Yale’s campus in STEM, social science, and humanities fields. The program features inspiring Yale lectures, and over 150 dedicated undergraduate, graduate, and professional school student instructors lead small-group discussions, teach their own unique seminars, and supervise collaborative projects.

Reporting to the YYGS Associate Director of Academic Affairs, the STEM Program Manager serves a key leadership role in the development of YYGS and is responsible for a range of activities including: designing curriculum and coordinating logistics for three STEM sessions with approximately 200 participants per session; recruiting, training, and managing approximately 30 instructional staff per session; teaching and mentoring participants; managing communications with instructional staff and participants; analyzing program data to help inform data-driven decision making; assisting with crafting a long-term strategic vision for YYGS, especially as it relates to Yale’s STEM resources; maintaining key relationships with faculty, students, and facilities in STEM fields on Yale’s campus; and maintaining a critical and front-facing leadership role during the summer.

Required Education and Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in a related field and four years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Education, Experience and Skills:

Ph.D. in a STEM field relevant to the academic content of YYGS. Experience with academic enrichment programs, such as Yale Young Global Scholars.

Required Skills and Abilities:

  • Self-starter and entrepreneurial, with a demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Demonstrated flexibility and agility to adapt to changing work demands and balance many projects simultaneously.

  • A commitment to undergraduate and graduate pedagogical development and a familiarity with STEM fields with the ability to teach high school-age audiences.

  • Excellent organizational skills with a strong attention to detail.

  • Well-developed interpersonal, oral and written communication skills with the ability to interact with a diverse range of individuals including high school and college-age students, parents, faculty members, and staff on a wide variety of academic and professionally-related issues.
