DESCRIPTION

 

The College of Natural Sciences at the University of Texas at Austin is recruiting for an Executive Director to lead the Texas Institute for Discovery Education in Science (TIDES).  TIDES serves as a student and faculty facing innovation and support for the College of Natural Sciences (CNS) in undergraduate education, specifically around teaching, research, evaluation, and experiential learning.  CNS is committed to creating leaders, making discoveries, and changing the world for the better, and the Executive Director of TIDES will help lead these efforts in collaboration with College and University leadership.

 

The Executive Director is the key management leader for the Texas Institute for Discovery Education in Science (TIDES), the undergraduate teaching innovation initiative in the College of Natural Sciences (CNS), and serves as a member of the College’s Leadership Team. The Executive Director is responsible for overseeing the administration, programs, and strategic plan for the organization. The Executive Director is also responsible for ensuring College and TIDES values are incorporated into all aspects of the organization, especially diversity, equity, and inclusion.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Doctoral degree. Knowledge of science and math education research; experience leading undergraduate education initiatives; and experience teaching at the undergraduate level. Applicants should have at least five years of experience promoting teaching professional development or institutional change. Proven supervisory and budget management skills. Professional demeanor and excellent communication skills are required. Applicants must be willing and able to travel.

 

Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

A record of success in obtaining grant funding and other external resources. Publication history in science or math education research. Specific experience in funding, managing, and evaluating undergraduate research programs. Experience with change management in higher education.
