The Instructor will be responsible for teaching undergraduate level courses in Chemistry. This is a nine-month non-tenure track position with an estimated start date of August 2020 renewable annually upon satisfactory performance. We are seeking applicants interested in teaching undergraduate courses in Survey, Fundamental, General, and Organic Chemistries including laboratories. This position is governed by state and federal laws, and agency/institution policy.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Teach undergraduate sophomore and freshman level Chemistry classes including laboratories;

  • Teach undergraduate level Organic Chemistry classes including laboratories;

  • Implement teaching strategies focusing on student success and retention;

  • Curriculum development and implementation;

  • Participation in outreach activities;

  • Service activities to the department, college, university, and community;

  • Student advising;

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Committed to students’ success as indicated by prior teaching experience and/or mentoring and supervisory experience of employees;

  • Expertise in Chemistry topics;

  • Knowledge and use of best-teaching and safety practices;

  • Ability to use various computer software programs (Gmail, BlackBoard, MSWord, Excel, Banner, Boss, etc.);

  • Ability to develop course materials and teach in hybrid or online platform as required;

  • Knowledge of simple laboratory equipment and organic laboratory practices.

Required Education and/or Experience

Graduate degree (MS or MA), in Chemistry.

Preferred Education and/or Experience

Doctorate in Chemistry. Organic Chemistry background. Teaching experience at the College or University level.
